Tips & Requirements

  • Presentation Board (A2 Sized)

    At least 3, but not more than 5 A2 sized sheets are to be submitted as soft copies in pdf format. Your submission must meet the following criteria:

    • Please ensure that the site, site details, site analysis project details, floor plans, elevations, sections, 3D views, perspectives, colour choice and any other information relevant to your design are submitted in the allotted maximum 5 A2 sheets.
    • You could refer to the Nippon Paint colour palette and other products available on www.nipponpaint.co.in for your colour scheme and to enhance the quality of your spaces.
    • Presentation must be designed in landscape format and be submitted as a single PDF.
    • Shortlisted candidates will be notified to make an oral presentation in front of an eminent jury.
    • Do not place your name or other identifying information on your presentation to ensure anonymity during judging. Entries with names written on the sheets will be subject to disqualification.
    • File Name: < your name >_< college name >_< category >
  • Photographs

    • Provide recent personal photo in JPEG format
    • All required image files: 300dpi & JPEG format ONLY
    • The individual perspectives in JPEG format, high resolution (300dpi) and A4-sized (minimum) must be saved in a folder entitled “Perspective”. The file name of the JPEG shall be saved in a naming format based on “areas”. For example: Living room / Lobby.
    • The optimum size for your JPEG is 5 MB. Find out how to optimise your file size here.
  • Labelling

    • Label all areas of floor plan
    • Perspectives in A2 Boards 2, 3, and 4 must be in A3, A4 or A5 sizes and pasted on the boards.
      *For manual submission
    • The Entry Form must be attached or affixed as a cover page when submitting the entry in a CD/DVD.
      *For manual submission
    • Submissions should not have the participant’s profile and education institution details on top of the presentation board to ensure anonymous judging of the competition.
  • Colours Used

    • All colours used in the project must be from Nippon Paint’s product range.
    • All colours used in the design must be clearly illustrated with Nippon Paint’s colour names, colour codes, and product ranges.

  • Design Statement

    • The design statement should not be more than 800 words and must be saved in a PDF file format.

AYDA HARVARD DESIGN DISCOVERY

Design Discovery is a six-week summer program at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design (GSD), which welcomes people—from recent high school and college graduates to seasoned professionals—who want to explore the possibilities. Some participants are considering a career in design or planning, but not all. The programme offers:

  • A chance to learn rst-hand what it’s like to pursue an education and possibly a career in the different elds of architecture and design

  • A rigorous course of intensive studio work, lectures, workshops, critiques, and eld trips - sometimes social, and sometimes solitary

  • An immersive culture that is challenging, rewarding, and exhilarating

  • An opportunity to experience and gain an in-depth perspective from future leaders in the elds of design


SECTION 1Disclaimers and Remarks

  • Asia Young Designer Awards or AYDA, is an extension of NIPSEA Management Co. Pte Ltd.’s (NIPSEA) inclusive business arm promoting in support of its education initiatives. It is an award for architecture and interior design students in Asia.
  • Harvard Graduate School of Design is NOT a sponsor, contributor and or a partner of AYDA or NIPSEA, its organizers and or its associated affiliates.
  • Acceptance into Harvard Graduate School of Design are subjected to Terms & Acceptance determined in entirety and solely by the Harvard Graduate School of Design Admission Authorities and or its faculties.
  • Any and or all decisions on entry acceptance and or non-acceptance to its programs decided by Harvard Graduate School of Design are final. Responses and or reasons may or may not be offered at sole discretion of Harvard Graduate School of Design.
  • Asia Young Designer Awards and or its associated organizers, partners, agencies, sponsors and or its employees will not be held responsible for non-acceptance of the winner/s of AYDA due to circumstances that are not within its control and or scope of authorization; for whatever reason whatsoever.
  • Asia Young Designer Awards, its associated organizers and or its employees will endeavour to assist the winner/s to submit and provide additional information within its scope to support your application towards the Harvard Graduate School of Design program.
  • School of Design are final. Responses and or reasons may or may not be offered at sole discretion of Harvard Graduate School of Design.

SECTION 2 Cost, Tuition, Restrictions and Conditions

Upon successful acceptance of your application by Harvard Graduate School of Design and Visa approval by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and or approvals required of you any other Government or Institutional authorities; organizers of AYDA, NIPSEA Management Co. Pte Ltd (NIPSEA) and or your local AYDA representatives will assist you with all other matters to prepare you for your program at Harvard Graduate School of Design in June 17-July 26, 2019

All Harvard Graduate School of Design Tuition fees and Housing during your program will be paid for by AYDA/NIPSEA. AYDA/NIPSEA will undertake the following cost:


  • ONE Return Airticket inclusive of all taxes and airport charges. (Additional luggage charges, other than what’s included in the fare, are not included and will not be covered by AYDA/NIPSEA.)
  • Transfer to and from airport to Harvard Graduate School of Design Admission Office/Campus Housing on campus
  • Tuition fees and material fees are fully paid for
  • Travel insurance with health insurance will be provided and paid for. It may be used at the Harvard University Health Services (HUHS) on a fee-for-service basis.
  • Access to Harvard athletic facilities (upon request and must be applied for in advance)
  • Daily allowance for 3 main meals
  • Miscellaneous expenditure i.e. personal shopping, personal care products or expenses, entertainment, sightseeing, tours etc. are NOT included. Please kindly prepare a small amount of USD for your personal use.
  • Family members or friends are NOT allowed to accompany you on this program or share the housing facility that is provided to you by AYDA/NIPSEA.
  • Exceptions & conditions
    Should your application be rejected by Harvard Graduate School or you are denied/fail to obtain a US entry Visa, compensation may be offered in lieu. Quantum of the compensation will be at the sole discretion of the organisers of AYDA/NIPSEA limited up to USD 5,000.00 only.

RULES & REGULATIONS

  • Participants must be enrolled in an educational institution of interior design or architecture or be recent graduates from 2017, 2018 and 2019.
  • This contest is open to all (Architecture) B.Arch 3rd year and above students, penultimate year and ultimate year students of architecture diploma courses; (Interior Design) penultimate year and ultimate year students of architecture and interior design diploma and undergraduate courses are eligible.
  • Young architecture and interior design professionals who have graduated in 2017, 2018 and 2019 are eligible.
  • Final date of entry is 12 Oct 2019, Saturday.
  • Nippon Paint Group of Companies shall reserve the right to use the winning entries for promotional purposes.
  • Judges’ decisions are final.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be notified to make an oral presentation as a final judging procurement.
  • Winners will be notified to attend a ceremony. Winning entries may be featured in marketing and promotional materials as deemed appropriate by the organiser and sponsor.
  • Prizes are non-transferable and non-exchangeable for cash or credit.
  • The organiser reserves the right to substitute the top prizes with another product of similar retail value without prior notice.
  • Participating students must have international passports.
  • Information provided by participants are deemed as final.
